I've consulted Ms Chung on Friday regarding whether my ideas are feasible or not. My idea was as follows: My theme was "Uniquely Singapore" which depicts Singapore in three stages, two sections: Historical and Current landscape, from the old times to British colonization and Japanese occupation period to the modern city we are currently living in now. This would consist of three A2 size watercolor paintings depicting 1. Singapore nature reserves (placed in the centre to depict that nature never changes) 2. Colonial Structures placed on the left-hand side to depict Singapore in British colonization, and New structures placed on the right-hand side to depict Singapore as a modern and rapidly changing society. This shows a transition from old to new with nature as the only constant. Next, I thought of a few ideas to include in my paintings: For old structures, I thought of colonial architecture such as the Fullerton hotel, Fort Canning Park or Bungalows in the Buena Vista Area. Singapore nature reserves would be Bukit Batok Hill or Bukit Timah Nature Reserve or Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. New structures would include Resorts World Sentosa or Marina Bay Sands to express dynamism in the Singaporean society. I also thought about including Kampungs or Shophouses in my paintings. I plan to complete my Prep Work by March and Finish coursework by June-July with time reserved for touch-up. Ms Chung told me that my ideas were okay and worth pursuing but I needed more of a personal touch and make my coursework special and unique rather than just one of my average watercolor paintings. She also advised me on how to arrange my eight prep boards and what to include in them. 1st board: Explain concept of my coursework. 2nd board: Specific ideas e.g. The Fullerton hotel 3rd board: Artist background and works that inspired my painting 4th and 5th Board: Artist Style (My personal style) 6th Board: Elements of my final work 7th Work: Experiment with different layouts and experiment with colors 8th prep board: Final 3 paintings to install in final composition and the design of a room and atmosphere for the display of my work.

Hi there, viewers! Thank you all for looking at this blog. This is officially the blog dedicated for my Sec 4 AEP coursework. This blog records all the consultations with my AEP teachers, the progress of my coursework and basically, all records of my coursework can be tracked down here. The Prep, the final, the thoughts, the ideas, the challenges, time management...Basically more or less everything regarding my coursework. The purpose of doing this is to provide a comprehensive and organized platform to complete my coursework and proper recordings to be made. Today is the first day of the academic year 2011, and my first consultation with Ms Chung about my coursework. I told her that I was interested in doing a mix media of water-colour painting and acrylic painting on canvas about the size of a standard water-coulour paper. She told me it was possible to get one and I can start planning from now. Though I have not finalized any idea yet, I am coming up with some ideas and preliminary sketches. Currently, I am thinking of doing pop-art in a water-colour style, not sure if the idea is original.
